Are 1980s houses in Great Sankey likely to contain asbestos?
It is less likely than in 1960s and 70s homes but still possible — it was used until the 1999 ban. A survey confirms it either way.
Does my house have asbestos?
If it was built or refurbished before 2000 it may. Asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999, and before that it was used in hundreds of building products. The only way to know is a survey with laboratory analysis — you cannot tell by looking.
Which survey do I need?

Usually not. Asbestos in good condition that will not be disturbed is often safest left where it is and checked occasionally. Removal is only needed if it is damaged or in the way of planned work.
